High Pressure Pumping and Liquid-Jet Generation Expert

If you are an engineer or scientist with an experience in high pressure engineering, practical fluid dynamics or similar and you want to make use of that knowledge to improve the world’s brightest X-ray tube, please read on!

Excillum (Stockholm, Sweden) is a high-tech company with a unique patented X-ray source technology. We are already very successful in our niche but our goal is to become the preferred high-end supplier to most X-ray applications all over the world. As a High Pressure Pumping and Liquid-Jet Generation Expert you will be one of the driving forces in the development group towards further perfected products.

About the job

A good start is probably to have a look at the video explaining our X-ray source technology. http://www.excillum.com/technology/metal-jet-technology/metaljet-animation.html

Now you should understand the importance of generation of high-speed jets of liquid metal in vacuum.

We now want to expand our research and development team with a dedicated individual who can further develop this technology by hands-on work with pumps, piping, nozzles, flow etc. This is a very practical role and if you have previous experience within fluid dynamics or high pressure engineering it is of course a strong benefit, but we can imagine other backgrounds for this role. General technical genius and experimental persistence far beyond normal goes a long way. The work will involve the whole chain of developing technical concepts and sourcing hardware to verify concepts in dedicated test benches of your own design. The ultimate goal is to develop and verify fundamental principles improving our technology that then can be integrated into our products in close collaboration with our product development team.

What's In It for You

Join us on our journey and we can offer you stimulating and challenging work tasks in a creative and dynamic company. You will become part of the R&D department of a smaller company where everyone's contribution matters and is clearly seen. You will work closely with a team of experts and have close relationships with other functions such as product development.

We believe that you have

We believe that you have an engineering degree or even a Ph.D. in physics, mechanical engineering or similar. You have excellent problem solving skills, and potentially a strong interest in practical fluid dynamics. You have a technical curiosity, great interest to find, explore and understand technology and technical solutions. You are creative with a strong passion for innovation and have practical experience in building prototypes or other equipment.

Skills required:

  • Hands on experience with high-pressure pumps and components

  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics

About us

Excillum started 2007 and makes the world’s brightest microfocus X-ray tubes. The MetalJet X-ray tubes are conventional microfocus tubes with the solid-metal anode replaced by a liquid-metal jet. A metal-jet anode is continuously regenerated and already in the molten state. Thereby, the classical power limit of an X-ray source, when the anode is permanently damaged by the electron beam, no longer applies. Our unique MetalJet microfocus x-ray source technology can at current stage generate roughly 10 times the X-ray flux of a conventional solid anode X-ray source from the same source area.
