A KTH/KI group demonstrates that the three-dimensional muscular structure of unstained whole zebrafish can be imaged with sub-5 μm detail with propagation based X-ray phase-contrast tomography. By comparing the X-ray imaging results with histology, it can be confirmed that individual myofibrils can be resolved in the whole-body imaging.
