Battery quality control (QC) is a major challenge facing both cell producers and OEMs alike. In this talk, we’ll discuss how to approach battery QC from first principles. We’ll first discuss the challenges of battery quality & battery production as outlined in Glimpse’s recent Nature Communications publication—with an emphasis on the value of high-throughput computed tomography (CT) scanning. We’ll then discuss the fundamentals of CT technology, its current limitations, and how recent breakthroughs throughout the CT technology stack can be combined to create the next generation of battery QC.

This webinar is 40 minutes followed by a 10 minute Q&A.

Speakers

Peter Attia

Peter Attia is the cofounder and CTO of Glimpse. Previously, he worked as an engineering lead on some of Tesla’s toughest battery failure modes and managed a team focused on cell CT scan analysis. Peter holds a PhD from Stanford, where he developed seminal machine learning methods for battery lifetime prediction and optimization. Peter has received honors such as Forbes 30u30 but has not written a bestselling book on aging.

Emil Espes

Emil Espes is Head of Segment for Battery at Excillum.
